Dear AAHA members:
It's been a long time since you didn't hear from
the USA Chapter of AAHA. Circumstances were part of it.
We had a very small but lovely reunion last Sunday
at Jeoffrey and Joan Hazzan Vernikos' beautiful home in Culpeper, Virginia. You may recognize Joan and
Jeoffrey at the door of
their lovely home in Culpeper, Virginia, Liliana (myself) with the scarf
"bariolee" Viviane Pescov Machoieff and Andy and Rouly Constanzos. Viviane and I drove with Andy and Rouly. The weather
was beautiful and typical of a Sham El Nessim: sunny, warm not too hot
just perfect. So sorry that the other AAHA members were not able to
join us. We were greeted by the warm and usual hospitality of the
Hazzans. The menu was Mediterranean: Appetizers and wine on the patio
facing the golf course and shortly after we had a wonderful lunch,
Spinakopita, Foul Medames and Eggs Hamin, Greek Salad and Kobeba
and Tahina. Deserts consisted of a delicious Mousse au Chocolat, Eclair
a la Pastroudis, and Fresh Strawberries. We talked, endlessely, about the present,
the past, the potins d'Alexandrie and the people we ended up putting together
who touched our lives one way or another. Bref, it was a wonderful
day. We spent 5 intense hours and if it were not for Viviane's dog
(her Beagle "Lainey" wanted her back home as she missed her a
lot).... we would have stayed even more hours in Culpeper. We decided
that our next reunion would be in Rockville at Mykonos in the Fall. I
shall keep you posted when the time comes.
